Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has insisted that the reason for his side’s defeat to Manchester City was because Pep Guardiola’s side had an extra day of rest, the Daily Mail reports.
The Blues slumped to their second home
defeat of the season as Kevin De Bruyne’s side sent City home with a
crucial three points.
This was without a doubt the same Chelsea of last season, but what happened was that we came up against a City side who went into the game much better rested than we did. Nothing more.
This time last year we were eight points behind, but it doesn’t mean anything. There is still a long way to go in all competitions.

Chelsea had travelled to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night, as they secured yet another win in the group stages.
City, on the other hand, didn’t travel,
and played their Champions League game on the Tuesday evening. They beat
Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
As a result of the extra day of rest,
Fabregas believes that his side lacked the same energy that City were
able to produce in the game.
Chelsea currently sit in 4th place on the Premier League table, and trail league leaders City by a considerable total of six points. Manchester United are level at the top with their rivals.
